Opportunity comes a knockin'

I have been offered an excellent opportunity to kick start my photography business! Every year our town has what we call a "Balloon Race." Hot hair balloons from all over the country attend and they offer hot air balloon rides and a hot air balloon race. The last evening of the 2-day event they have a "balloon glow." All of the balloons light up at night and it is simply amazing.

Here is where the opportunity comes into play... One of my friends happens to be handling the arts and crafts section of the show and every year they have a photographer who has a booth setup to take pictures of people in a hot air balloon basket. Their photographer bailed this year and guess who was asked to hop on board!! *Points to self* This is an excellent opportunity to get my name into the community and gain business. I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this amazing weekend.

Since this is my first big "gig" I did need some equipment to pull me through to the other side. So I invested in a laptop, a photo printer and I am looking into a flash and tripod for my Canon. It's not the Mac I was hoping for since it was on such short notice but we picked up an awesome Toshiba at an even awesomer price.. is that a word.. awesomer .. *shrugs shoulders* Although Walter informed me that he would buy me a Mac and he would take the Toshiba off my hands... maybe he just likes the new laptop?

And in other news.. Allie is officially ready to potty-train. I bought her this sweet potty chair that looks like a frog and I suppose it was incentive enough for her to get started! Go ALLIE!!
